RPMS - Radiometric Polarization Measurement System

Measurement of the optical properties of anisotropic optical films and the radiometric properties of UV exposure equipment in R&D, pilot and production environments is critical for successful development and production of optical films, displays and other devices.  To meet these needs, Elsicon has developed a variety of optical systems to make these measurements.

The ORMS4-05 and ORMSS process control software are designed to make in-line retardation measurements on web-based optical films.  The system is fully automated and provides data to the operator regarding the retardation at multiple points cross web.  The high data acquisition rate and analysis provides retardation updates for all transverse positions every 320ms.  ORMSS software gives visual data readings and indicators which are color coded for different alarm situations.  Alarms are activated when there are ORMS equipment faults and/or product failure to meet user specifications.  Graphical interfaces allow the operator to monitor the retardation at the multiple positions as a function of time.  Indexing capability is designed to synchronize production events with the data.  All data is logged into text based data files suitable for independent analysis using third party software.  An I/O interface is included for remote control of the ORMS4-05, and activation of remote alarm indicators.  Integral to the system are reference standards so that the operator can independently verify the ORMS performance.

Radiometric measurements of linear lamp systems via the RPMS allows the operator to monitor UV exposure equipment performance.  Monitoring of UV exposure equipment performance results in reduced down time.   The RPMS can make radiometric measurements on any polarized and unpolarized linear lamp system.  However, it is particularly well suited for OptoAlign  Exposure Equipment.  Elsicon has developed manual and automated systems depending on the needs of the customer.  Please contact Elsicon with your specific needs.
